  Client: An international MFI Accelerator

The Context: The Accelerator seeks out and partners with young, high-potential microfinance institutions, helping them build capacity, attract capital, and unite them with their network to achieve rapid, sustainable growth. This Accelerator organization was seeking to aid its Partner MFIs build capacity from a People Process perspective; specifically, the aim was two-fold:
  1. To map current health of the HR Function, processes and practices and assess their adequacy / sufficiency in terms of addressing current and future business need
  2. To understand specific areas where support was required to boost capacity
The Assignment: CoCoon was tasked with designing and implementing a diagnostic toolkit to assess the overall organizational health in relation to people practices at various levels from the Board to the field and making appropriate recommendations for each Partner Organization.

Our Approach: The first step was conduct extensive interviews/ FGDs with a couple of the partner organisations to understand the people process issues that these organisations and the industry as a whole was facing. Having gained this understanding, we designed a diagnostic questionnaire which enables an organization to map its HR capability and health based on current needs and future organizational goals. We conducted the Diagnostic for 5 Partner organizations and presented our recommendations to the Management teams of these organizations.
