Client:The CEO ands COO of one of the top 50 Microfinance Institutes in the world (by Forbes Magazine) with a strong presence in South India.
Context:The organization was going through an exponential growth phase by expanding their customer base, products and geographical presence. They were also in the process of augmenting their Senior Leadership team. A more dramatic planned change within the organization was the stepping away of the current CEO from an active role in day to day operations and transition of this role to the COO.
The Assignment:We were tasked with coaching the CEO and the COO of this organization to transition into their respective new roles.
Our Approach:Senior Coaches from CoCoon worked with these two individuals over a 9 month period. Coach and Coachee met approximately once every month. The areas of focus and desired outcomes for these two individuals were distinct and these are briefly outlined below:
CEO
COO
Desired Outcomes
We conducted an extensive diagnostic to understand the current organization structure, systems & processes, future goals and strategic plans.
To successfully transition from being COO to CEO of the organization
Focus Areas
The areas that the Coach and Coachee focused on covered:
6-month transition plan and its implementation
Coaching skills to support the COO to transition into the new role
Personal coaching to deal with the transition effectively (this was very important as the emotional investiture of this individual in the organization was extensive, also being the Founder of the organization)
The areas that the Coach and Coachee focused on covered:
6-month transition plan and its implementation
Senior leadership team evaluation to determine their ability to deliver against future business and organizational imperatives and leadership team augmentation
Coaching also focused on moving from a more operational to strategic role
The Outcome:It has been over a year since the individuals have transitioned into their respective new roles. The CoCoon coaches continue to meet with their respective coachees, on a need basis (as requested by the Coachees) to help them discuss any current issues they may be dealing with.
